Diamond Platnumz only East African musician on CNN’s list of Africa’s biggest music stars
CNN has published a list of top 10 biggest music stars on the African continent. Bongo superstar Diamond Platnumz is the only musician from the greater Eastern Africa region who made the cut.
Nigerian musicians have now dominated continental music scene for years. They are closely followed by their counterparts in South Africa.
It’s no wonder five Naija artistes appeared on CNN’s list of Africa’s biggest music stars, whereas South Africa artistes secured two slots.
Nigeria’s Burna Boy, Wizkid, Mr. Eazi, Yemi Alade and Tiwa Savage made the cut, with South Africa’s rap sensation Sho Madjozi and singer-songwriter and poet Busiswa Gqulu also being featured on the list.
Diamond Platnumz has once again made the region proud being the only musician from Eastern Africa to featured among Africa’s biggest music stars.
Diamond debuted in the industry some 10 years ago and modeled himself as one of Tanzania’s success stories in the music industry with large following across the continent and beyond.
He has risen from humble beginnings to win awards such as the MTV Africa and MTV Europe and secure prestigious BET nominations.
