The 18-tracks album drops today 13th of March 2018 and of course most tracks on the album are produced by his music producer “Lizer Classic”
The initial cover art of the album is a childhood picture of “Diamond Platnumz”, Tandale is an administrative ward in the Kinondoni district of the Dar es Salaam Region of Tanzania and that happens to be where “Diamond Platnumz” was brought up, hustled and propelled to the star he has become today, hence the album title.
The once unsure artist, who back in the day with his mum and grandma had to live in a single room while they rented out other rooms in their apartment just to make ends meet, is now making millions from his music, making him one of the most successful singers in East Africa.
Diamond Platnumz is famous for his “bongo flava” smash hit singles like “Number One” featuring Nigerian star Davido and “Kamwambie.” Born Naseeb Abdul Juma near Dar es Salaam, he blends various music genres such as hip-hop, R&B, reggae, Afro-beat, dancehall, and African mix of culture like taarab and dansi hooked on a danceable combination of lively rhythm.
Kamwambie was Diamond Platnumz’s major hit single, released in 2010 on his first ever album of the same name. He trailed that accomplishment with his second body of work, Lala Salama.
Arguably one of the most celebrated Tanzanian artists, Diamond Platnumz is also one of the most decorated: at the 2014 Tanzania Music Awards, breaking the record of most awards ever won by any Tanzanian musician, scoring seven victories in categories like Best Male Artist, Best Male Writer, Best Song Writer, and Male Entertainer of the Year.
Diamond Platnumz might have released some albums in the past but this happens to be the most important of all as the singer is currently on top of his game. With countless songs topping major charts across Africa, there is high pressure on the singer and much is expected from him as the owner and head of Tanzania’s biggest record label.
Diamond Platnumz signed a major record deal with Universal Music Group who are the distributors of the album. This is the first time a major record label is distributing a Tanzanian artist’s album. in an interview with Dailynation Kenya, the wasafi singer made it know that he is not signed to Universal Music Group, the relationship they have is a partnership which will assist him in pushing Wasafi music across the boundaries of Africa.
The album had been lunched at the Kenya National Theatre, Nairobi five years after his first album. When asked why he decided to launch the album in Kenya, his reason was that he positions himself as an African entertainer, not just Tanzania musician, see pictures below.
I came to launch the album here in Kenya because I hate it when people picture me as a Tanzanian musician. My goal has been to prove to people that I’m an African entertainer.

The album launch was sponsored by #SongabySafaricom and American singer Omarion was present ans performed at the event, watch his stunning performance at the album launch below:
