2Baba Sues Blackface for N50 Million

At the height of their powers together, the trio of 2Face (Innocent Idibia), Faze (Chibuzor Orji), and Blackface (Ahmedu Augustine Obiabo) were part of the three-man group called Plantashun Boiz. And then they split.

In an interview with TheCable, Blackface had accused 2Baba of being responsible for the split. The split came just after two albums (“Body and Soul: The Beginning,” and “Sold Out”), in 2004. They came together in 2007 to release one album, titled “Plan B”

They have remained separated since. However, while 2Baba, whose first stage name is Tuface, has gone on to record more songs and success in his solo career, Blackface and Faze have not been so successful.

Although Blackface released a music video titled “Killah” and some others, they did not make much impact. Blackface claims to have written “African Queen,” a song 2Baba released to critical acclaim over a decade ago.

In a screenshot of a phone conversation with Blackface. 2Baba had allegedly said that he told Blackface before recording the song. But 2Baha has denied in the open that the song is Blackface’s.

He has since gone to court to sue Blackface for defamation of character and asking for 50 million in damages. Blackface shared the picture on Instagram and said his lawyers would take up his defence.

He likened the situation to what the Yoruba call “Aitete M’ole Ole M’Oloko” (a thief accusing the owner of being the thief), and the fight good over evil.

He would release his new album “Rising Sun” after filing his defence.
