Davido All Kitted for NYSC
DMW boss Davido, who recently rounded off his concert in Cotonou, benin Republic, is set to serve his fatherland. Nigeria beckons.
Davido is set to serve in the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) scheme. The location of his state and place of primary assignment was not made public.
However, the “Nwa Baby” crooner, who rapper Pryme co-opted alongside American rapper Offset (of the band Migos) to release “Lamborghini” only days back, had taken to his verified Instagram page @davidoofficial to announce his enrollment for the sscheme, and it was obvious he is excited to serve.
In the photo posted on Instagram, he was wearing NYSC t-shirt, jacket, trousers and boot, sitting on his while Bentley, a happy-go-lucky smile on his face.
The National Youth Service Corps is a body set up by the government of then General Yakubu Gowon for all Nigerian graduates under 30 years to serve their fatherland for 12 months.
OBO’s electing to serve the fatherland instead applying for exemption is a joke on finance minister Kemi Adeosun, who had had apparently not served the nation but forged an exemption certificate when she was 22.
Davido’s “Locked Up USA” tour was announced weeks back. By the dates give – August 28 for his first concert at First Avenue, Minneapolis, and September 20 for his final concert at August Hall, San Francisco – it is obvious he won’tbe going on NYSC until after the tour.
In any case, it is good news to see him serve the fatherland, as it would motivate other rich kids to serve as well and not to trick or beat the system.
