Tiwa Savage Admits Consenting to “Freak Me”… and Looks Forward to a Remix With Ciara
American rapper, producer and actress Ciara released her single titled “Freak Me,” featuring the “Jogodo” hitmaker Tekno in early August this year and followed it up with a music video shot in Soweto, South Africa.
Not long after, allegations surfaced that the American rapper sampled Tiwa Savage’s song “Before Nko” from her “RED” album. Ciara admitted she got Tiwa Savage’s consent and actually acknowledged her and her crew in the song.
Tiwa Savage, the “Lova Lova” mastermind, said nothing at the time, which may have given the allegation some resonance. However, in a recent interview with TimWestWood TV, she had made the clarification she was indeed aware of the sampling but didn’t hear the final product until it came out.
She said: “It’s amazing; it’s an honour. I am aware of the sampling but I didn’t hear the final product until it came out. It’s a pleasant surprise.”

This definitely puts the issue to rest. Besides acknowledging her awareness of the sampling, she also said she would be pleased to do a remix of the song with Ciara.
So, a collaboration just might be in the offing. In the interim, Tiwa is looking forward to her performance in Dubai, along with the likes of Wizkid, on November 16, at the One Africa Music Festival.
Before then she would perform in South Africa on October 12 and 13; in Zambia on October 23; and in Ghana October 27.
