“It’s a Family Affair” – Banky W Reacts to Wizkid Missing His Wedding

An event that happened in 2017 got dug up this year as fans appeared to still be harboring resentment for Wizkid over his non-attendance of former label boss, Banky W’s wedding ceremony where he and actress, Adesua Etomi became one.

Tongues had wagged back then after Wizkid whose career got a major boost after he got signed by Banky W‘s EME missed the latters wedding ceremony. While tongues wagged then, neither Banky W nor Wizkid responded or offered any explanation but Banky W has finally addressed it and defended Wizkid.

In his words: “I think people unfairly judged Wiz and a lot of them were a little bit too harsh on him for missing the wedding. Many people forget that around the time of my traditional wedding was also when One Africa Music Fest was going on in Dubai. So, there were many other artistes at the event, who were struggling trying to make it back to catch up with the wedding.”

The duo have come a long way since EME with Wizkid now one of Africa’s biggest music exports and Banky W now combining singing with media work and acting and currently running for a State House of Assembly position in the Lagos State House of Assembly.

Concluding the interview with ThisDay, Banky W said: “We love each other and that’s my brother for life. And honestly, the same goes for Skales, Xclusive, Niyola, Shaydee, MasterKraft , Suka Sounds, Timothy King etc. Everyone we worked with at EME during the early years. Osagie, Uche, Anuel and others… there’s a bond between us all, it’s a family affair. No matter what happens, family remains family. Family first, family forever.”
