Anatii – Iyeza
After hosting some fans to an exclusive listening experience, South African rapper Anatii has finally released his album titled “Iyeza.”
The album has 10 tracks (“Wena,”“Ngozi,” “Ehlatini,” “Ndaweni,” “Zion (Interlude),” “Ntloni,” “U Sangthanda Na,” “Vuka,” “God My Best Friend,” and “Thixo Onofefe“), all of them sung by Anatii himself.
Having a 10-track album and not featuring other artistes in any of the tracks seems eccentric. Fascinatingly unusual. After all, it is the tradition these days bring other artistes on board for the sake of variety, which, by the way, adds to an album’s aesthetics.
It is an ambitious move not co-opting other artiste in this album. It may well read as Anatii’s confidence in his powers as a artiste, and his ability to deliver. (He was highly praised recently for his music by another South African rapper of note, Cassper Nyovest.) And indeed he did deliver in “Iyeza,” an album of dainty aspect and gossamer beauty.
Go take a long walk in the world of “Iyeza.” It beckons to you; it has a lot of promises for you. Care to take them? Alright, go grab them.
