Remember we brought it to your notice a couple of weeks ago that Nigerian Afro-pop sensation Davido and critically-acclaimed child comedienne Emmanuella were nominated alongside a host of other African superstars for the Favourite African Star award at the Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards?

The highly-anticipated award ceremony took place over the weekend at the Forum in Inglewood, California and Uganda’s Eddy Kenzo edged out a keenly contested field which also featured South Africa’s Cassper Nyovest and Caster Semenya as well as Tanzania’s Diamond Platnumz to take home the highly coveted award.

This win comes just days after Kenzo was announced the winner of the Best African Entertainer award at the 36th International Reggae and World Music Awards which took place in Miami, United States of America.

The uber-talented 28 year old Ugandan superstar who is celebrated across East Africa and beyond for his musical brilliance and has continued to thrill lovers of his music with a series of mega scorchers rose to global prominence after the release of his 2014 hit single “Sitya Loss”.

The merry song created such massive waves that it ultimately won Kenzo the BET International Viewers’ Award in 2015, marking the very first time ever the award was taken home by a Ugandan.

After being announced the winner of the Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice award, the multiple award winner, Eddy Kenzo, took to his Facebook page to show his gratitude to his loyal fans, especially those who voted him to victory, and celebrated the win with a jolly victory dance.
