Nigeria and South Africa. The first battle was the battle of jollof rice. Apparently Nigerian jollof rice tastes better, and Nigeria won the battle. There is another battle raging on right now, the battle of the bars, or the battle of hip hop supremacy, if you please.

South African rapper and “Fela in Versace” hitmaker AKA is of the view that South Africa is the Mecca of African hip hop. He made that observation on Twitter and credited fellow South African and “Pretty Flowers” mastermind Stogie T (Tumi Molekane) with the genius of making that a reality.

because of @TumiMolekane I can proudly say that (South Afica) is the MECCA of AFRICAN HIP HOP. There is no more room for debate. When it comes to this Hip Hop shit … South Africa IS THE (top) fucking level,” AKA’s tweet reads.

Down in Nigeria, there is another rapper who thinks otherwise and he is getting ready for a big fight or whatever. He has just asked us to hold his beer. It is not a good sign for South Africa.

This rapper is no other than “Lekki” crooner M.I Abaga. “hold my beer,” M.I. Abaga had tweeted, sharing AKA’s post.

Is M.I. Abaga about to faint or take a punch? A punch, apparently, for he who has given us “A Study On Self Worth” should know the country’s hip hop worth as well. And it is surely not below South Africa.
