Watch | Idowest Tell his Grass to Grace Story
There’s a singular lesson to be learned from “Who” crooner Idowest’s emergence on the music in Nigeria and indeed Africa: persistence and determination pay.
We get to have a glimpse of Idowest’s struggles and how he managed to emerge on the music scene in a recent interview he granted Nedu of Wazobia Max.
In the interview, Idowwest spoke of how he chased Davido all over the place in his quest to have an audience with. He went to most of Davido’s shows. He also went to his house.
His perennial visits to Davido’s house attracted the attention of Danagog, one of Davido’s artistes, who asked about his perennial visits to Davido’s house. He explained why to Danagog, and luck began to wink at Idowest thereafter.
He got to meet Davido and was later signed on to Davido Music Worldwide (DMW). He released the hit “Ji Masun” and has marched on musically since.
He had featured on Konga’s “No Level,” Jaydee Agbawo’s “Holding Something,” Mr Shaa’s “Shawarma,” and Cash Wale’s “Malaika,” to name a few.
Recently rumours swirled across Cyberspace that Idowest had left DMW, but Davido soon put the rumours to sleep in a public statement, asking people to stop spreading “stupid rumours.”
