BlackFace Asks FG To Arrest 2Face Over ‘Song Theft’
Former Plantashun Boiz lead singer, Blackface, has again renewed his bitter feud with former group member, Innocent ‘2Face’ Idibia, who is now known as 2Baba. This as Blackface requested that the Federal Government arrest and prosecute 2Baba over ‘song theft’ accusations.
Even though 2Face has for the better part remained indifferent to BlackFace‘s accusations and plight, BlackFace has attacked the “Grass 2 Grace” hitmaker at every opportunity; even suggesting at some point that 2Baba had tried to sabotage his career.
In an interview with HipTV, BlackFace laid the blame at the feet of the Federal Government; saying they were yet to fashion out appropriate punishment for those who were involved in song theft.
In his words:
“Had the Federal Government introduced an appropriate punishment for stealing other people’s songs, many music artistes would be in trouble today. If the penalty required offenders to spend some years in jail, many so-called big artistes would be in prison by now.”
Some of them steal songs from fellow musicians based in the country or abroad and pass them off as their own. This is very bad for culture and the creative sector. It is also bad enough for the honest and hardworking Nigerian artiste who goes through a lot of trouble to survive.”
“Whatever the government decides, the courts are there to ensure that justice prevails. “If you find yourself on the wrong side of the law, you will have to accept the consequence of your actions.”
In what can be described as friendship gone sour, the trio of 2face Idibia, Faze and Blackface formed the Plantashun Boiz and went on to dominate the Nigerian music industry in the 90s.
They eventually split to pursue solo careers and 2Face has been the most successful – finding global acclaim, recognition and fame.
