After being behind bars for the last one month, Nigerian Singer, Dammy Krane has now received an intimation about his ongoing case. The developments are that he will be expected to appear for trial next month, on August 1, 2017. The singer is facing charges of credit card fraud and theft. The nature of his arrest has trailed along 9-count fraud charges which include identity theft and credit card swindling.
It is believed that Dammy booked a flight using another person’s credit card and that saw the Nigerian singer arrested for fraud and impersonation. However, in a video that has gone viral on the internet, the singer has maintained that his alleged crime in Miami was a result of a credit card mix up. In the short video, Krane shifts the blame to his agent who according to him used a fraudulently obtained credit card to book his flight.
Up to now, it’s not clear on what the court intends to do with the supposed agent, but it’s evident that Dammy might be staying in jail for some time until the suspected agent is brought forward to face charges.
In the less than one-minute video clip, Krane starts by saying
First of all I want to thank God and I want to use this medium to apologize to my family, my team and my fans,”. He then continues to explain “You know I was arrested by the Miami PD for fraud. I do not do fraud and I do not partake in such activities it just happens to be that the agent just booked my flight with fraudulent cards. My life is all about my music and that is all I’m about.
The only twist in the story is that during his arrest, The Nigerian musician was found in possession of multiple credit cards. The singer had his first hearing on June 5, 2017, together with his accomplice Chukwuebuka. It’s likely that his final verdict will be passed on August 1st in Miami.
