Mariah Carey makes history as the first artist to top charts in 4 different decades

Mariah Carey has been having quite the festive season, thanks to her hit single ‘All I Want for Christmas is you’.

The song some few weeks back finally reached the number one spot 25 years after its release thanks to the increase in its streaming and the number of radio rotations across the same period.

After already spending 3 weeks at number one, Billboard announced that Mariah Carey had made history by being the first artist to have a number one single in four different decades.

‘All I Want for Christmas is you’ was released in 1994. Therefore it has ruled the charts through the 1990s, the 2000s, the 2010s and now the 2020s.

This is Mariah’s 19th number one single, one single behind the Beatles who have 20 number one singles. This also reiterates the reason we all call Mimi the Queen of Christmas.
