Burna Boy Hosts Private Listening Party for His Forthcoming Album ‘Outside’

Burna Boy’s album, ‘Outside’ is right on the verge of being released, and if you’re a fan of the 26 year old reggae-dancehall singer, then we can imagine just excited you must be right now.

The insanely talented artiste, whose real name is Damini Ogulu, entertained close family and friends, colleagues in the music industry, and a select few press and media people an exclusive event where the first listen of his forthcoming album, ‘Outside’ (which is set to be released on all digital music platforms on the 26th of January under Atlantic Records) took place.

The private listening party, which was ably anchored by The Beat FM’s Douglas Jekan, held at WéRé House in Lekki, Lagos. Burna Boy, in response to the questions about the album asked by the seasoned OAP, revealed that every song on ‘Outside’ was inspired by something in his life. He let it slip that ‘Where I’m from’ was his favourite and most personal song and that a trip to Port Harcourt inspired ‘City Vibration’. Furthermore, he recounted his experience with Drake which birthed the album’s opener, ‘More Life’.

The party might have been exclusive, but it was very well attended. Not only were Burna Boy’s Mother, Sister and Grandfather present, industry favourites such as Davido, Phyno, Skales, Leriq, DJ Spinall, DJ Lambo, Chopstix, Idia Aisien, Nonso Bassey, Odunsi The Engine and Idyl showed up as well for the ‘Like to Party’ serial hit-maker.

One of the highlights of the night was the refreshments. What stood out the most in that regard was Port Harcourt’s much talked about Bole and Fish, ostensibly Burna Boy’s favourite meal. The delicacy was creatively served from the trunk of a beautifully decorated Peugeot 504 with the plate number of the first car Burna used upon his return to Nigeria.

The event came to a grand end with the taking of photos after which everybody left, beaming with smiles. Apparently, ‘Outside’ is the bomb that’s going to blow us all to bits; however, we who weren’t privileged to be at the listening party just must endure the long wait for the 26th – which really is barely a few days away –to groove to Burna’s latest album.
