Davido Pays Tribute to Late Mother 15 Years After Her Death

Multi award winning Nigerian Afropop superstar Davido went on Snapchat yesterday to pay tribute to his late mother after wishing his father a happy birthday.

From the internationally acclaimed singer’s heartfelt post, we are reminded that the serial hit-maker lost his mom, Dr. Victoria Imade Adedeji on the 6th of March, 15 years ago.

Before her untimely death at 39 (which unfortunately coincided with her husband’s 40th birthday) in 2003, Dr. Adedeji was a lecturer at Nigeria’s Babcock University.

Davido’s sombre post consisted of a picture of his beautiful mother as well as one of himself, with a short write up to express his feelings.

According to the DMW boss who has already attained global recognition at such a young age and continues to break major records with his music, it hurts him everyday that his mom didn’t live long enough to see him become the success that he is today.

These were Davido’s exact words:

“Also on this day March 6 15 years ago I lost my beloved mother .. it hurts me everyday that your not here to see all what God has done with my life but I know you are watching from heaven .. continue to Rest in Peace mama!”
