Comedian Ebiye apologises for “distasteful joke” about Aramide’s #Headies2018 Win

Upcoming comedian, Victor Ebiye came under fire Saturday night after his comments on AfroSoul queen, Aramide’s Headies win.

The comedian had posted a picture of Aramide at the awards ceremony on his Snapchat and added a tag: “She can’t even believe it. Lol. She prolly fucked for the award.”

Fans and friends wouldn’t have it and called him out on comment section of blogs, social media handles and on his own post.

Realizing his error, the under fire comedian had posted an apology, saying he made the joke in bad taste and praising Aramide.

In his words: “I made a distasteful joke about Aramide last night at the Headies. I am embarrassed by my comments, I’m profusely sorry. Aramide is a hardworking artist who deserves every recognition she gets by merit. I sincerely apologise and pledge that such will not repeat itself.”

Aramide, whose song, “Fun Mi Lowo Mi” won the Best Alternative Song award at the Headies has not commented on Ebiye’s comment.

But most Nigerians are not satisfied with the apology and are urging Aramide to sue the comedian. It remains to be seen how Aramide will react to the who debacle or if she would even react at all.
