At Afrorepublik, Wizkid sealed himself as a legend in the Nigerian music industry with his breathtaking performance.
Late last year saw Wizkid sell out the Royal Albert Hall in London and at the end of the event, the superstar promised that his next goal was to sell out the historic O2 Arena.
And boy, did he live true to his words! Seven months after, Wizkid announced his concert and the tickets were bought at a speed faster than a whirlwind.
Performing at the iconic 02 Arena was Wizkid’s first major international performance for the year and the concert began with performances from Maleek Berry, Yxng Bane who brought Kojo Funds on stage, Mr Eazi who performed his latest single, London Town alongside UK rapper, Giggs, Tekno, Not3s, and Tiwa Savage,
However, the star of the night was Wizkid himself.
Part of the success recorded at the event can be attributed to his constant interaction with the crowd in between his performances.
From swinging in between his present music to his oldies, Wizkid set the stage on fire. The Starboy of Nigerian music told his fans ”Let’s do some Wizkid classics right now” to which he rendered classics songs like, No Lele, Tease me, Don’t Dull, Azonto, Pakuromo and Love my baby, which saw his fans cheering loudly.
Midway, Wizkid brought out Tiwa Savage, as they performed Malo to the delight of the crowd.
Once again, Wizkid has shown why he should be celebrated. From achieving a feat no other African artiste has recorded, the live crowd or those who streamed live via the provided YouTube channel will forever remember the night as amazing, breathtaking, and a great opportunity for putting Nigerian music on the map.
After performing Soco and Daddy Yo, Wizkid gave a classic finish by performing Ojuelegba as he promised, thanked his fans immensely, and promised to cause more musical uproar next year.
As the world watched Wizkid serve his fans at the 02 Arena, the Afrorepublik Concert would definitely be remembered for a long time.
