Burna Boy’s streaming numbers have skyrocketed on streaming sites following the release of American rapper, Kanye West’s eighth studio album, “Ye.”

At first thought, one would wonder the relationship between Kanye West releasing an album and a great surge in the streaming number of Burna Boy’s single.

Let’s start from the beginning – Kanye West’s album “Ye”, is also the title of track six on Burna Boy’s latest album, Outside released in January 2018.

Before the release of Kanye’s album on Friday, June 1, the rapper had built a lot of hype around the album, and on the night prior to the album release, he held an outdoor listening session in Wyoming which was available via live stream.

This heightened the anticipation among his legions of fans worldwide, who immediately stormed various online music sites in search of the album only to stumble upon Burna’s single instead, as Kanye’s “Ye” wasn’t available till later in the day.

Burna Boy has indeed confirmed the boost in his streaming numbers courtesy of Kanye West.

“Ye” is one of the most popular songs on Burna Boy’s album and the recently held Democracy Day celebrations on May 29 saw some Nigerian youths requesting for the song to be adopted as the nations’ new anthem.
