“The Same Capacity Wizkid & Davido Hold Down In Africa, I Can Hold Down In Africa.” – Yemi Alade
“Johnny” crooner, Yemi Alade is firing on all cylinders following her comments during an interview session on Hot FM 98.3 where she declared that Nigeria had no “number 1” artist and that she was on the same level with the likes of multi award-winning artistes like DMW boss, Davido and starboy, Wizkid.
Yemi Alade whose full name is Yemi Eberechi Alade shot to limelight in 2009 after she won the Peak Talent Show but it wasn’t until 2013 when she released her hit single, “Johnny” that she finally hit her strides and started challenging for the top with big name features, endorsements and awards to show for her dedication.
The Effyzzie Music Group act has gifted the industry with top hit songs like: “Nack Am”, “Na Gode”, and “Heart Robber”, all of which helped cement her place in the industry, and of course increase her fan base.
Yemi Alade who recently completed the European leg of her “Black Magic” tour said: “I respect everybody, we all inspire each other in this industry… there is actually no number one because your top five artistes in Nigeria that are the biggest in Africa can shut down the exact same capacity, the same capacity Wizkid holds down in Africa, I hold it down, the same capacity Davido holds down in Africa, I hold it down, the same venues, we all shut it down.
So there is no number one, and that is the truth but not everybody will agree to that, people will say Yemi shut up but that is the truth.. why don’t we go ask the promoters, the people who know the numbers?”
Concluding, the talented singer said she would be going back to Canada by the end of July to continue her tour.
