Davido, Other Artistes in the Cooler as Dreamville Festival is Canceled

Florence is a fine name indeed. But a fine name, history tells us, does not mean a fine temperament. “Katrina” is a fine name. But when you realize it was the name of  hurricane that devastated New Orleans over a decade ago, you would shrug massively.

Now America has Florence in its hands. Another fine name, another destructive hurricane that made for last minute cancellation of many things, including rapper J. Cole’s Dreamville Festival.

The festival was to have held September 15 in Raleigh, and would have witnessed performance by  several stars including  SZA, Big Sean, YBN Cordae, Lute,  Young Thug, Nelly, Rich the Kid, Teyana Taylor, J.I.D, Rapsody, King Mez, J. Cole himself and Nigeria’s Davido.

The Dramville Festival was postponed indefinitely in the wake of reports of Hurrican Florence. Over a million persons have been evacuated from the Carolina coastline, and the evacuation is still in progress.

The Dreamvill Festival announced the cancellation via its Instagram page. Part of it reads: “Due to safety concerns regarding dangerous weather, we are extremely saddened to announce today that the inaugural Dreamville Festival 2018 is being cancelled.

Our team has been working tirelessly with officials from the City of Raleigh, along with our State and Federal Partners, among others, to monitor the potential negative impact of Hurricane Florence. With the current weather-related information at hand, we have together decided to cancel this year’s event for the ultimate safety of both the local citizens and festival attendees.

Rest assured, we are doing everything in our power to make this event happen at a later time and we hope to share details regarding a possible new event date as soon as we possibly can. For any additional festival-related announcements, please make sure to stay tuned to Dreamville Fest’s Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram at @dreamvillefest where we will continue to share updates in real-time.
