He made a promise, and he fulfilled it gallantly. CDQ’s album “Ibile Mugabe (The Voice)” is here, and, boy has it got firepower!
Sodiq Abubakar Yusuf is the millennial long famous by the stage name CDQ. The NSNS boss has seen the black side of rejection as a prominent manager had once rejected his music. But that is in the past.

It is the tradition these days for artiste to release tracks from an album before releasing the album itself. CDQ bought into that tradition with “Ibile Mugabe (The Voice).” Put simply, some of the tracks have been published before the album dropped.
That notwithstanding, “Ibile Mugabe (The Voice)” is a fine piece of art that should make the playlist of music lovers across the continent.
I count “Say Baba (Remix),” in which CDQ, with the aid of South Africa’s gqom heavyweight DJ Maphorisa, ingeniously melded the gqom beat, among my favourites. Well, which and which tracks are your favourites?
