I am contemplating calling today Rema day given that we wrote a lot about him today. Having reviewed the 4 tracks of his just released “Freestyles EP,” I reckon it would be incomplete not to review the EP itself – as a single subject. So here you go.
In case you are aware, Rema has been releasing freestyle clips on social media and his fans have been fawning over them – oh, wrong word – and his fan have been impressed by them all. And the fans were determined these freestyles should be packed well and served hot.
Mavin Records no dey carry last, you know. It responded to fan appeal, collating the freestyles into what is right now known as “Freestyle EP.” The title explains itself. See?

Signing Rema to Mavin Records was an ambitious move on Don Jazzy’s part. But then the celebrated producer surely knows the stars when he sees them. He has been compensated handsomely, as Rema has literally imploded on Nigeria’s music scene.
He is currently one of the most searched terms on Google in Nigeria, and is trending on Nigeria Twitter even as I write. And this is only the beginning. Rema’s talents and the clout of the record label managing him make this obvious.
The 4 tracks of “Freestyle EP” make for a pleasurable listening experience. And this experience is one that will be in your memory for some time.
