Internationally acclaimed Contemporary Afrobeat sensation, Wizkid, has just signed a new artiste who goes by the name Terri to his highly sought after record label, Starboy Entertainment, barely two months after bringing 10-year-old Ahmed on board.
Making the surprise announcement that welcomed Terri to the prestigious Starboy Entertainment family on Twitter, Wizkid revealed that he discovered Terri on Instagram after the talented singer tagged him to his (Terri’s) cover of “Oshe”, the recent song by DJ Jimmy Jatt which features Wizkid.
The Starboy boss saw the cover sometime in December after the song was released, was apparently impressed by Terri’s talent, and – just like that – decided to sign him to his record label.
By so doing, Terri has become the most recent on a significantly long list of erstwhile unknown Nigerian musical talents who practically went from obscurity to being signed by the big labels in town.
Just a few minutes before welcoming Terri to the Starboy gang, Wizkid announced that he’s right on the verge of dropping a hot new project, his very first EP which is titled “Made In Lagos”, and guess what? Terri will be making his first official appearance as a member of Starboy Entertainment on the project.
Terri will be featuring particularly on the song “Soco” which was produced by Northboi and also features Spotless and Ceeza Milli.
According to Wizkid, the song is scheduled to drop on February 20th, and judging from what we’ve heard on the snippet, it’s going to be such a firecracker.
We congratulate Terri on getting signed to Starboy Entertainment and eagerly anticipate “Soco” – and indeed the entire “Made in Lagos” EP.
We also think it is highly commendable that Wizkid is giving undiscovered talents an opportunity to shine so easily on such an elevated platform without really having to do much more than just be themselves.
