Yemi Alade Hits Out At Goverment Over Plans To Use N27 Billion On Parliament Renovations

A majority of Nigerian musicians have always been vocal when it comes to issues to do with governance and public interest.

Most often, the musicians speak out against the Government and it’s institutions whenever they fell it is not doing the right thing like they recently did with condemning police brutality.

With reports that the Nigerian Government is planning to use a whopping 27 billion Naira to renovate the National Parliament, singer Yemi Alade has come out to question the plans.

In a tweet on Wednesday, the popular songstress wondered why such a huge amount of money is being allocated to renovations while there are other important areas that would benefit the people like Health Education, Agriculture and Roads.

“#27billion on Renovation, what happened to education, health sector, power sector, Agriculture, federal and state roads, POLICE and the MILITARY?” the ‘Shekere’ hit maker posted on Twitter.

“Is it so hard to take care of your own people. O Nigeria where did we go wrong?,” Yemi Alade noted in another tweet.

The multiple award winning singer who recently challenged President Muhamadu Buhari to deliver the change he promised also seemed to advise Nigerians that they should demand to be part of the renovations so that the cash remains within themselves.

“Let’s all move to Aso Rock, so that we can partake in the renovation. Make our 27billion enter back our hands,” read another Yemi Alade’s tweet.
